For over 40 years, RCS has been an active community partner providing critical services for those in need. Our central location in New Bern has been able to serve not only Craven County, but Jones and Pamlico Counties as well. Now, through the help of generous donors and a community grant program, RCS is pleased to introduce "Operation Outpost."
Operation Outpost is the newest initiative at RCS and will enable a team of dedicated volunteers to bring food, clothing and hygiene items to more rural populations in our tri-county area. We have designated 4 convenient locations that will serve as pickup locations for boxes filled with necessary essentials for daily living. As the program grows, we are looking to add at least 4 more locations in areas that need it most. We will also provide an outreach assessment for individuals and families and follow-up with our RCS case management team.
Ways you can help
Volunteers are needed to help with Operation Outpost. If you can volunteer on Tuesdays at RCS from 4pm-6pm to help prepare boxes that will be delivered on Wednesday.
If you can volunteer on Wednesdays to help distribute boxes at our first Operation Outpost from 5:30pm-7:00pm please let us know (locations per week will vary for Wednesdays on a rotation basis):

DONATE GOODS: We are in need of extra items to help fill our distribution boxes.
Items needed include, but are not limited to the following:
- peanut butter
- jelly (in plastic jars)
- pasta
- tomato sauce (in cans)
- canned meats
- canned vegetables
- bottled water
- granola bars
- hygiene items (deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, razors, feminine hygiene products, toothbrush, toothpaste, fingernail clippers, lotion, etc.)
- gently used (clean) clothes and/or new clothing for adults and children. Please try to donate seasonal clothes as appropriate.
DONATED ITEMS CAN BE BROUGHT TO OUR WAREHOUSE (DROPOFF ENTRY FOR THE RCS WAREHOUSE IS ON THE GUION STREET SIDE OF THE CAMPUS) AND CAN BE DELIVERED MONDAY - SATURDAY 8AM - 2PM).
