About Us

This video was proudly made by Bob Mackowski with Open Aperture Photography (www.openapphoto.com).

What began in 1982 as a pot of soup in the back of Sister Angela Mary Parker’s station wagon has evolved into Religious Community Service’s (RCS) Community Kitchen in New Bern, North Carolina. Nearly 40 years later, a community concept has excelled past fruition. RCS is a faith-based organization addressing the basic needs of the community by providing food, clothing, and shelter to those who need it most. We have a diverse group of volunteers who come to us from local churches and businesses; all giving of themselves to help others. Our primary programs include the Community Kitchen, Clothing Closet, and Temporary Shelter, but we have other thriving programs to help nourish the whole person: Mind, body, and spirit.

RCS provides the following programs:

Community Kitchen open 365 days a year

Clothing Closet

Temporary Shelter

Transportation Assistance

Utility Assistance

Disaster relief and recovery

Food Pantry

Prescription Assistance

Enrichment Programs

Employment Readiness Boot Camps with Craven Community College
