A Heartfelt Thank You: WCTI Shines a Light on Our Community's Strength

We were filled with immense gratitude last week as WCTI's cameras joined us for one of our Pop-Up Food Distribution events. It was a true honor to have them on-site, sharing a glimpse into the heart of our work and the incredible spirit of the New Bern community we are so privileged to serve.

Their story brought to light the very reason we do what we do: to lend a helping hand when it's needed most. As the interviews with local residents showed, the pressure of rising grocery prices and inflation is a very real struggle. We heard from neighbors like Deonna Smith, who shared a sentiment many can relate to, pointing out the shocking cost of staples like eggs. These stories are a powerful reminder of why our twice-weekly, free food distributions are so essential.

For us, every smiling face and every filled bag represents a step toward alleviating that struggle. As our Chief Compliance Officer, Jowita Cerilli, shared with WCTI, this work is a blessing on both ends. "It fulfills our hearts and seeing the people come in and be grateful it makes our work well worth it," she said. This mission is driven by compassion, and the support we see from our community members and dedicated volunteers fuels us every day.

We want to extend a special thank you to WCTI for their thoughtful and impactful coverage.
