Reflections on 2025: A Message of Gratitude to Our Community

As we turn the first few pages of the 2026 calendar, our team has been taking a moment to look back at the year we just shared. We recently sent out our Annual Year-End Mailer to our partners and friends, and we wanted to share that same spirit of reflection and gratitude here with our wider digital community.

2025 was a year defined by lasting impact. More than anything, it was a year that reminded us that we couldn’t do what we do without you.

Our 2025 Highlight Reel

While the full mailer dives deep into our journey, here are three milestones from this past year:

  • Community Kitchen: Together, we served 47,449 meals to our neighbors in need.

  • Shelter: Men, women, families and veterans found safe refuge for a total of 10,842 nights.

  • Volunteers: Our dedicated community of volunteers (3,250!) logged thousands of hours, preparing meals, providing support, and offering hope every step of the way.

A Note From Our Leadership

"In the movies, miracles are rare events. But at 919 George Street, we see them every day.

They look like a hot bowl of soup for someone who hasn’t felt warmth in weeks. They look like a mother who no longer has to whisper, "Just try to sleep," because her children finally have safe beds. They look like a veteran walking in without hope and walking out with a job interview and a plan.

These moments don't happen by accident. They happen because you believe compassion should be tangible. Because of your support, Religious Community Services provides food, shelter, and dignity to neighbors in Craven, Jones, and Pamlico Counties who have nowhere else to turn.

As we look toward 2026, the need is not slowing down. We are inviting you to help us keep our doors open and our tables full for every person who arrives hungry, exhausted, or searching for a second chance." — Candice Parker, Executive Director
